We know that many of you would love to have one or two routines that work in a stand-up environment whether it be for dinner parties, magic club events or even to start being able to perform as part of cabaret shows and the like!
So here are my top picks for routines that hit big, are easy to do and have loads of great comedy and routining built into them!
Celebrity Smart Ass by Bill Abbott
Cameron Says:
"Celebrity Smart Ass is one of the most commercial and easy to do routines of the last 20 years. It's interactive, hilarious and has a KILLER ending."
The Routine:
A deck of cards with names on them is introduced and as you go through the dozens of cards you call out each celebrity first name and the audience calls out the celebrity's last name: you say, "Paris!" the audience says, "Hilton!", you say "Tiger!" they say, "Woods!", you say "Britney", they say, "Spears!" etc.
A spectator is handed the pack of celebrity names and is instructed to take about half in each hand. They are asked to toss one half away and keep the other. They repeat this until they are left with just one name.
Their final choice is revealed and it's "Tom" for Tom Cruise. The spectator stands and hands you the envelope. Unbelievably they have found the needle in the haystack, as you pull out a photo of Tom Cruise...at the age of six months!
A photo of a cute baby is revealed and the volunteer goes back to their seat to some polite applause and a lot of laughter! You then ask the audience if they think that Mr. Cruise looks cuter as a baby, then he does now as an adult? Suddenly you turn the large tabloid-size photo over to reveal a very large (grown up) head shot of...Tom Cruise!

Sheer Luck - The Comedy Book Test by Shawn Farquhar

This routine was made famous on Penn & Teller: Fool Us and is not only an amazing piece of magic that gets great reactions, it's hilarious throughout and ends with a truly mind-blowing moment!
The Routine:
You and a spectator stand back to back while they freely select any page from the book. Then with absolutely no effort you are able to recite word for word any sentences, paragraphs or even a whole page that is selected.
During the entire demonstration the audience see just how the "magic" works. Once revealed to the volunteer you will stun everyone by showing them the solution they thought was being used... isn't it at all.

DOWN TO ONE by Jon Allen
Cameron Says:
Down To One is the definition of "pack small, play big". With nothing but a coin, you can engage the entire audience with a fun game that ultimately ends in a personal and impossible prediction!
The Routine:
The whole audience stands up and guesses the result of a coin toss by touching their head (heads) or their bum (tails). Whoever guesses correctly stays standing and the game continues to be played until you are down to just one person left standing.
You then reveal that your prediction not only describes this person *exactly* but also their winning guess!

The Routine(s):
While your back is turned, your spectator freely colors in 5 different shapes with ANY marker they want. The colors they chose perfectly match the colors you chose!
While your back is turned, the spectator freely selects any color marker and places them in different places on their body. Little do they know, EVERY action they make has been meticulously influenced by you.
A Which Hand effect where you'll read your spectators' minds 3 times in a row and finish off with a prediction to prove all their thoughts were predetermined.
